Teams must set their lineup atleast 1 hour before the scheduled start of the match.
At the scheduled time of the match, the Match Engine algorithm starts simulating the match based on the batting and bowling orders submitted by the teams. For a particular delivery, the Batsman's Ability (determined by his batting skills, experience, form and fitness) is compared with the Bowler's Ability (determined by his bowling skills, experience, form, fitness and pitch factor). Based on these two values the outcome of the delivery (0,1,2,3,4,6 or Out) is determined by the match engine using probability. This process is repeated for each delivery of the match.

choosing your batsmen
'Skill' (Batting vs seam/spin), 'Fitness', 'Form' and 'Experience' determine the Batting Ability for a player.
A batsman uses his 'Batting vs Seam Bowlers' skill when facing a seam bowler (fast or medium pace) or 'Batting vs Spin Bowlers' skill when facing any type of spin bowler.
Having a Left-hand-Right-hand batting combination in the middle pays dividends. A bowler will lose his line a little bit every time there is a change in strike. However, this negative effect only lasts for a single delivery (the bowler will adjust his bearings after that), until the strike changes again.
A poor (compared to the bowler he faces) batsman has a much better chance of scoring a quick fire 20 than playing a long innings.

Choosing Your Bowlers
'Skill' (Bowling Main/Variation), 'Fitness', 'Form' and 'Experience' determine the Bowling Ability for a player. The pitch also plays a role in the effectiveness of a bowler.
A Bowler's 'Bowling Variation' skill counts more than his 'Bowling Main' skill towards his overall bowling ability.
'Fitness' matters more for seam bowlers than for spinners or batsman.
Due to the state of the ball, Seamers get a boost when they bowl early in the innings.
Similarly, Spinners are slightly penalized when they bowl early in the innings (the 'penalty' for spinners is however less compared to the 'boost' for seamers).
A poor (compared to the batsman he bowls to) bowler has a much better chance of bowling 1 or 2 decent overs than 4.

Star Rating Generating (Ability calculation)-Batting
Consider a player 'Ramu Ramlal' having these skills:
Accomplished Experience, Decent Form and Unreliable Fitness.
Batting vs Seam bowlers:Remarkable, Batting vs Spin bowlers:Exemplary.
As you can see, he is quite good against spinners but relatively weak against seamers.
Before the match, the match engine calculates his batting ability against both type of bowlers.
Batting ability against spinners (Bspin) = SomeComplexFunction(Batting vs spin bowlers, Experience, Form, Fitness)
Batting ability against seamers (Bseam) = SomeComplexFunction(Batting vs seam bowlers, Experience, Form, Fitness)
Keep in mind the Star Rating is the avg value of his batting ability against each delivery.
Case #1, during the match Ramu Ramlal faces 'x' balls, all from spinners.
Ramu's Star Rating = (x * Bspin) / x
Case #2, during the match Ramu Ramlal faces 'y' balls, all from seamers.
Ramu's Star Rating = (y * Bseam) /y
Case #3, during the match Ramu Ramlal faces 'x' balls from seamers and 'y' balls from spinner
Ramu's Star Rating = [(x * Bseam) + (y * Bspin)] / (x+y)
Therefore, if Ramu were to face only spinners in his innings, owing to his superior spin batting skills, his star rating will be much higher than it would be if he faces only seam bowlers.
Apart from the bowling style (spinner/seam), his star rating is not effected in any way by the ability of the bowler he faces.

STAR RATING GENERATING (ABILITY CALCULATION)-Bowling
A bowler's ability is solely dependent on the pitch, skills, fitness, form, experience, etc.
A pace friendly pitch (Green Wicket) will boost the ability of pacers, and a spin friendly pitch (Crumbling Wicket) will boost the ability of spinners.

Team Fielding Ability
The 'Fielding' skill of every player (including the keeper) will contribute to the overall fielding rating of the team.
'Fitness' boosts 'Fielding' skill of all players.
A Wicket keeper's 'Wicket keeping' also contributes to a team's fielding rating.
A bad fielding side will drop more catches.
A team with good fielding ability will save more runs and concede fewer misfields.
A more 'Experienced' captain sets better fields, this boosts a team's fielding rating.

Bat or Bowl First?
Consider the following points for choosing whether to bat or bowl first:
- Near the end of the innings, if a Team batting first has wickets in hand then it will start slogging i.e., increase the run rate, but may get out slightly more than usual.
- If the required run rate climbs very high, Teams batting second will try to increase the run rate, but in the process may get out much more than usual, due to pressure built by a high Required Run Rate.
- If a team is chasing and requires less than a run-a-ball near the end of the innings, batsman will take more singles and twos instead of risk playing the big shots.
- If you are playing against a pretty weak team, consider batting first, as you will be able to make more runs, as well as bundle the opposition out for a low total. If you choose to bowl first, your batsmen won't be able to make as many runs, as there isn't such a big target. Doing this will give your batsmen more runs, which will eventually help them get more MOM awards and make more people want to bid on them if the player is auctioned.
Power Play
You can select a set of 5 continuous overs during which your batsman will go on the attack. This is similar to 'slog mode' you see during the end of the innings, where the chances of boundaries AND to a lesser extent, wickets (due to increased risk taking) go up significantly.
Timing your Power Play to coincide with your opponent's weaker bowlers can be the key to victory. However, don't set your Power Play too far into the innings, as better batsmen hit harder in the Power Play.

Aim for target (aft, available to brilliant+ managers)
This feature is available only to managers above Remarkable in Reputation. You can instruct your batsmen to pace their innings with a particular target in mind, when they go out to bat in the first innings.
Set a target that you think your bowlers will be able to defend. Setting a very ambitious or a very low target could cost you the match, as your batsmen will take more risks. Setting a target too low would mean a score too low for your bowlers to defend.

wicket keeper's ability
The star rating in the scoreboard will show how good your keeper is based on his keeping skill, fielding, form and experience. Also, the keeper will contribute less to the Team Fielding rating.
Caught Behind: Every dismissal has a small percentage chance of becoming a 'cWK', the probability of your keeper holding on or dropping it depends solely on the Keeper Ability.
Byes: Determined by the 'Keeper Ability'. Great bowlers manage to beat the bat, poor keepers manage to turn them into 4 byes...you get the point.

smart field placements
Balls are not hit equally to all parts of the ground. Fielders at positions like 'point', 'cover', etc. therefore see a lot more of the ball than others.
Your captain will pick out your 3 best fielders (based on their 'fielding' & 'fitness') automatically and position them in the most important locations in the field.
These 3 key fielders will therefore have a higher effect on the Team's overall fielding rating.
Vision behind this: It is hard to get 11 good batsmen/bowlers with good fielding as well, making it nearly impossible to achieve a high fielding rating. Now it's easier to get a high rating with a few top quality fielders. Teams could also be tempted to field 1-2 players primarily due to their fielding, which happens a lot in actual T20s.
